Tender, sweet, slow-cooked pulled pork is made a bit tangy with apple cider. Perfect for a fall day tailgate.
Ingredients
- 3lbs boneless pork shoulder roast
- 2tsp chili powder
- Kosher salt and black pepper
- 2 cups apple cider
BBQ Sauce
- 1 1/2 cups apple cider
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup ketchup
- 4tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2tsp garlic powder
- 1tsp dry mustard
- 8 hamburger buns
Directions
- Coat slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray
- Trim fat from pork shoulder
- Place into slow cooker and sprinkle with chili powder, salt, and pepper
- Pour apple cider over pork and cover and cook on low heat for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours
- For BBQ sauce, place ingredients in medium saucepan and bring to boil
- Make sure pan is uncovered and stir frequently
- Reduce heat and simmer, still uncovered, for 20-30 minutes or until sauce is thick
- Place pork on cutting board and remove cooking liquid
- Pull pork apart into shreds and serve on hamburger buns topped with sauce
