Tender, sweet, slow-cooked pulled pork is made a bit tangy with apple cider.  Perfect for a fall day tailgate.

Ingredients

  • 3lbs boneless pork shoulder roast
  • 2tsp chili powder
  • Kosher salt and black pepper
  • 2 cups apple cider

BBQ Sauce

  • 1 1/2 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 4tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2tsp garlic powder
  • 1tsp dry mustard
  • 8 hamburger buns

Directions

  1. Coat slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray
  2. Trim fat from pork shoulder
  3. Place into slow cooker and sprinkle with chili powder, salt, and pepper
  4. Pour apple cider over pork and cover and cook on low heat for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours
  5. For BBQ sauce, place ingredients in medium saucepan and bring to boil
  6. Make sure pan is uncovered and stir frequently
  7. Reduce heat and simmer, still uncovered, for 20-30 minutes or until sauce is thick
  8. Place pork on cutting board and remove cooking liquid
  9. Pull pork apart into shreds and serve on hamburger buns topped with sauce
