Ingredients
- 2 large white onions cut into rings
- 2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tbsp hot suace
- 2 cup all purpose flour
- 1tsp salt
- 1 tsp seafood seasoning
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 12 oz beer
- 6 cups vegetable oil
Directions
- Slice onions into rings
- Mix together buttermilk and hot sauce and coat onions
- Let this sit for 1 hour
- Heat oil in pan at 350 degrees
- Mix together flour, salt, seafood seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika and cumin
- Separate seasoned flour and use 1 1/4 cup for dredging and mix remaining flour with beer and stir until flour dissolved
- Shake buttermilk from onion rings and lightly dredge in seasoned flour
- Dip into beer batter and let drip until batter clings
- Add to hot oil and let fry
- Cook each ring about 2 minutes
- Drain and sprinkle lightly with seasoned salt after frying
