  • 2 large white onions cut into rings
  • 2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp hot suace
  • 2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1 tsp seafood seasoning
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 12 oz beer
  • 6 cups vegetable oil


  1. Slice onions into rings
  2. Mix together buttermilk and hot sauce and coat onions
  3. Let this sit for 1 hour
  4. Heat oil in pan at 350 degrees
  5. Mix together flour, salt, seafood seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika and cumin
  6. Separate seasoned flour and use 1 1/4 cup for dredging and mix remaining flour with beer and stir until flour dissolved
  7. Shake buttermilk from onion rings and lightly dredge in seasoned flour
  8. Dip into beer batter and let drip until batter clings
  9. Add to hot oil and let fry
  10. Cook each ring about 2 minutes
  11. Drain and sprinkle lightly with seasoned salt after frying
