This french dip is the perfect tailgate food that all your guests will not stop talking about. This tasty dish will keep everyone satisfied and asking for more.
Ingredients
- 3 lb beef chuck roast trimmed of excess fat
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- French rolls or hoagie buns
- 12 slices provolone cheese
- Slow Cooker
- 1/3 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
- 1 cup Coke (NOT diet)
- 2 10.5 oz. cans beef consommé
- 1/4 cup dry minced onions
- 1 tablespoon beef bouillon
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 bay leaves
Directions
- In a large skillet heat olive oil. Add the roast and sear on all sides until browned. Place roast in slow cooker and add all ingredients.
- After cooking roast for 4 hours on low heat, remove roast and thinly slice it across the grain.
- Place the sliced meat back in the slow cooker and cook for another 1-2 hours on low.
- Remove roast and strain fat from broth for dipping, when roast is done.
- Line the bottom of baking tray with cut rolls. Place beef and slices of cheese on each and bake at 350 degrees F or until cheese is melted.
- Serve with broth for dipping.
