The intense rivalry between Air Force and Colorado State carries over from the gridiron to the hardwood. The two schools flat out don’t like each other, and a few years ago things came to blows when a mini-brawl broke out. There is plenty of bad blood between Air Force and Colorado State, so don’t miss it when the Rams come to town.
The Air Force-Army matchup is a fun game to attend each year. There are lots of bragging rights on the line when these two service academies get together, so make sure to be in attendance when the Falcons square off against the Black Knights.

In Game
An Air Force basketball game presents an excellent opportunity to see a service academy play ball in a picturesque setting. Air Force like the other service academies has a unique in-game experience that is a bit different from what you’ll find elsewhere around the country. One of the biggest difference is that rather than having students, Air Force has cadets who tend to be a bit more restrained in their behavior. You’re less likely to hear some of the harsh languages you’ll hear elsewhere making an Air Force game an excellent place to take the family. That said the fans inside Clune Arena are plenty passionate when it comes to supporting their team.
Another great aspect of attending an Air Force basketball game is the intimate atmosphere provided by Clune Arena. The quaint venue seats less than 6,000 and has an old school feel thanks to the wooden seats. You won’t mistake Clune Arena for Cameron Indoor Stadium, but it provides a fun atmosphere that every diehard college hoops fan should experience at least once.
If you’re into the Air Force, then you’ll find a lot to see in the surrounding area. The Barry Goldwater Air Force Visitor Center and Air Force Chapel are all must-sees for Air Force buffs. Those of you looking to grab something to eat or drink will want to drive to nearby local favorites like Colorado Mountain Brewery.
A trip to Air Force is a great time for college basketball fans, especially those who are also interested in the Air Force.
On the concourse, you can see several banners celebrating the best players in Air Force history. The banners honor greats such as Cliff Parsons, Otis Jones, and Nick Welch, so take a trip around the concourse to see them all.
Team Shop
If you’re looking to pick up a souvenir from your trip to Clune Arena, then make sure to stop by the team shop. Here you can get t-shirts, pins, pennants, and much more. There are a lot of options at the Air Force team shop, so you won’t have worry about leaving empty handed.
Falcons Mascot
You can spot the Falcons mascot at every Air Force home basketball game. The fun mascot entertains the crowd with his shenanigans and is especially great for kids, so be on the lookout for him at the game.
The cheer and dance teams at Air Force do an excellent job of entertaining the crowd. The cheerleaders get everyone up and cheering with their routines, and you won’t want to miss the dance team when they perform during breaks. Make sure to enjoy the performances of the Air Force spirit groups when attending a game.
If you’re at a game where the pep band attends then you’ll be in for a treat. The band performs the Air Force song and a few others throughout the game and help provide a great atmosphere at Clune Arena, so listen for them when attending a Falcons game.
One-half of the stadium chants “Air” and the other chants “Force” which makes up the favorite chant of this fanbase.
Air! Force!
Air! Force!
Air! Force!
The U.S. Air Force
(Chorus I)
OFF we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder
At ’em boys, Give ‘er the gun!
Down we dive, spouting our flames from under
Off with one helluva roar!
We live in fame or go down in flames. Hey!
Nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force!
(Chorus II)
Minds of men fashioned a crate of thunder
Sent it high into the blue
Hands of men blasted the world a-sunder
How they lived God only knew!
Souls of men dreaming of skies to conquer
Gave us wings, ever to soar!
With scouts before And bombers galore.
Nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force!
(Verse) or the (Third Verse)
Here’s a toast to the host
Of those who love
the vastness of the sky,
To a friend we send a message
of his brother men who fly.
We drink to those
who gave their all of old
Then down we roar to score
the rainbow’s pot of gold.
A toast to the host of men we boast,
the U.S. Air Force!
(Chorus III)
Off we go into the wild sky yonder,
Keep the wings level and true
If you’d live to be a grey-haired wonder
Keep the nose out of the blue!
Flying men, guarding the nation’s border,
we’ll be there followed by more!
In echelon we carry on, Hey!
Nothing’ll stop the Air Force!
Nothing’ll stop the U.S. Air Force!
Falcon Fight
Fly you Falcons down the field;
Tear the enemy asunder!
Bare your talons, make them yield;
Give them all your thunder!
Spread your strong wings wide and high;
Fight for victory!
Never say die, keep flying high
For the Air Force Academy!
AFA Alma Mater
After the game, Air Force players gather to sing the Air Force Alma Mater. The tradition is a great way for the team to show how much the United States and Air Force means to them and is quite the sight to behold for anyone in attendance.

U.S. Air Force Blue
They took the blue from the skies
And a pretty girl’s eyes
And a touch of Old Glory’s hue,
And gave it to the men who proudly wear
The U. S. Air Force Blue,
The U. S. Air Force Blue.
Oh they are men with a dream
On America’s team They’re a rugged and ready crew,
And you can bet your boots
The world looks up
To U. S. Air Force Blue,
To U. S. Air Force Blue.
They know where they’re going,
They set their course,
The sky’s no limit in the Air Force.
They took the blue from the skies
And a pretty girl’s eyes
And a touch of Old Glory’s hue,
And gave it to the men who proudly wear
The U. S. Air Force Blue.
And you can wear it too,
The U. S. Air Force Blue.
