History

Canal Park in Akron, Ohio is the home of the Eastern League’s Akron RubberDucks. The 7,630-seat ballpark opened in 1997 and cost $32 million to build. Canal Park is named after Ohio and Erie Canal, which runs behind the left-field wall, and the ballpark’s dimensions are 331 ft to left field, 400 ft to center field, and 337 ft to right field.

In 2006, Canal Park received a new 18 ft by 25 ft digital scoreboard. The scoreboard was replaced again in 2013 when a $1.65 million 28 ft by 68 ft scoreboard was installed. That same year a smaller display board was added near the picnic area as well.

In addition to being the home of the RubberDucks, Canal Park also hosts the Akron Marathon each year and in 2016 was the site of the Eastern League All-Star Game.
