The Sun Devils student section is famous for its signature free throw distraction technique. The student section distracts opposing free throw shooters by setting up a black curtain and then unveiling the fans behind it right as the player shoots. Don’t miss the curtain distraction when attending a Sun Devils basketball game.

2. ASU Athletics Hall of Fame

Make sure to check out the ASU Athletics Hall of Fame if you want to learn more about Sun Devils athletics. Here you’ll find tributes to all of the best athletes in ASU history. There is also a trophy case in the south lobby of Wells Fargo Arena, so stop by both when attending a Sun Devils basketball game.

3. Sparky

Sparky, the Sun Devil, is the official Arizona State University mascot, which can be seen all around the stadium on game days. Sparky was designed by Disney illustrator Bert Anthony in 1951 and has been representing ASU ever since. Look for Sparky to entertain the crowd with his trident and wild antics next time you take in a game at Sun Devil Stadium.

4. Mural

Right as you walk into Wells Fargo Arena, you’ll be greeted with the sight of a mural that wraps around the entire facility. The mural contains pictures of former student-athletes and is a can’t miss for anyone attending an ASU basketball game.

5. Banners

Hanging from the rafters of Wells Fargo Arena are banners honoring the best of the best when it comes to ASU basketball teams and players. The banners honor the program’s three Elite Eight appearances as well as all-time greats such as Lionel Hollins and James Harden. Take a minute to remember all your favorite Sun Devils basketball memories during your trip to Tempe.

6. The 942 Crew

The ASU student section, known as The Inferno, is the wildest group of fans at any Sun Devils basketball game. No matter what the score these gold clad super fans will be chanting and cheering loudly for their team. If you want to get loud, then make sure to sit in or near The 942 Crew.

7. Arizona State-Arizona Rivalry

Arizona State and Arizona play for the Territorial Cup in football, and things are just as heated when the two meet on the hardwood. The rivalry between the two schools began on the court long before they two met in football dating back to 1913. The Wildcats have gotten the better of the Sun Devils throughout most of the series history holding a 149-83 lead in the all-time series, but you’ll still be in for a treat when attending an Arizona State-Arizona game.

8. National Anthem

During the national anthem Arizona State fans yell, “home of the Sun Devils” rather than “home of the brave.” Join in on this fun tradition to show off your ASU school pride.
