The Red Wolves have a fierce rivalry with the Memphis Tiger, which dates back to 1914 when ASU beat Memphis 18-6. The name of the rivalry is derived from the fact that the winner is awarded a trophy made out of a paint bucket and brushes. The winner also gets to smear a designated part of the rival’s campus with paint. Memphis leads the all-time series 30-23-5, but the Red Wolves will be howling to even things up shortly.
The Red Wolves and Warhawks have met on a somewhat regular basis since 1959, but things didn’t really kick-off until 2006 when ULM joined the Sun Belt Conference. The Red Wolves lead the all-time series 22 games to 14 games and have a five-game winning streak that they hope to extend when the two schools meet this season.
The rivalry between these two schools dates back to 1953 when the Red Solves eked out a 13-12 victory over the Ragin' Cajuns. However, it wasn’t until 1966 that the two teams began meeting on a regular basis. The Ragin’ Cajuns lead the all-time series 23-19-1, which doesn’t sit well with the Red Wolves who hope to change this in the coming seasons.
Red Wolves Tailgate Guide
Atmosphere
If partying is your thing, then look no further than the student tailgate here at Arkansas State University. The student tailgate takes place in the grove to the east of the stadium, which offers plenty of shade to help you beat the heat during early September games. Located here are all the fraternity and sorority parties as well as the loudest music at the tailgate.
Arkansas has a long running tradition of delicious barbecue, and the tailgate at Red Wolves games is no exception. An ASU tailgate is a fantastic spot for barbecue whether you’re looking for a pulled pork sandwich or a full slab of baby back ribs. The locals supply a wide variety of tangy sauces each coming from their own secret recipe.
The Red Wolf Walk offers ASU fans a chance to see off the team before they take the field. The band leads the players and coaches through campus from the Pavillion to the locker room. The walk is an excellent way to get your Red Wolves ready to take down the opposition.
Tailgate City is the primary tailgate area set up by the school and community sponsors. Here the locals as well as local businesses set up shop to sell food, drinks, and even Red Wolves gear. The tailgate had grown in recent years and is a great place to head to before a game particularly if you left your Arkansas State gear at home.

In Game
The Red Wolves kick off the game with a blast as they enter the field through a wolf’s head accompanied by the sound of howls and pyrotechnics. The entrance creates a frenzy amongst the fans that does not stop until the game ends. Not only are the fans here very enthusiastic about their team they also are some of the most dedicated fans as well. ASU has one of the best attendance records in the Sun Belt, which is no surprise with fans like these.
Here at Arkansas State, the weather is almost always fantastic for football. Centennial Bank Stadium features warm sunny weather throughout the seasons as temperatures remain in the 60s throughout the season. With weather and fans like this, there is no reason for you not to include a stop at ASU in your next college football road trip.
Check out the Letterman’s Arch as you make your way into Centennial Bank Stadium. The Letterman’s Arch is a nice tribute to past Arkansas State players and something everyone should see when attending a Red Wolves game.
Howl is one of the coolest mascots in college football as he is a bright red wolf with ferocious teeth. He is very active on the cheer squad and also can be seen patrolling the student section. Perhaps the coolest thing about Howl is the way he flies down the field on his motorcycle before every game.

Our Alma Mater ASU
Your hallowed halls shall ring
With praise by daughter and noble son
Who proudly stand and sing
Mem’ries of your stirring glory
And of youthful friends we knew
The red and black shall ever wave
On high for ASU
Since 1982, Buffalo Wild Wings (or B-Dubs as our friends call us) has been the ultimate place to watch the game, have a cold beer and eat some great food.
Serving you with a "proper pint", we have beers on tap that can be found no where else in Arkansas, as well as an extensive wine and bottled beer list.
The first thing you should know about Skinny J’s is that we aren’t your average steakhouse. We’re also a burger joint, a meeting place, somewhere to celebrate, or just a favorite place to relax and enjoy the company.
