Rivalries & Top Games to Attend

Bruins vs Canadiens

Rival Team: Montreal Canadiens

The Bruins-Canadiens rivalry is one of the best in not only the NHL but all of sports. These two Original Six franchises have been battling each other since 1926 and have squared off more than any other NHL teams. Boston and Montreal have met in seven Stanley Cup Finals with the Habs winning the most recent one in 1978 four games to two. Don’t miss it when the Habs come to town as you’ll be in for a treat as everyone in the arena brings their A game when Montreal visits.

Bruins vs Rangers

Rival Team: New York Rangers

Just like any other Boston-New York rivalry you’ll find plenty of passion on display at a Bruins-Rangers game. The two teams have met numerous times over the year in the Stanley Cup playoffs with the rivalry peaking in 1972 when the Bruins defeated the Rangers 3-0 to win the Stanley Cup Finals in six. More recently, the Bruins beat the Rangers in the 2013 Eastern Conference Semifinals four games to one.

Bruins vs Sabres

Rival Team: Buffalo Sabres

The Bruins-Sabres rivalry dates back to 1970 when Buffalo entered the league and has been going strong ever since. The Bruins won the first five playoff matchups between these two Atlantic Division rivals, however, in 1993 the Sabres finally got their revenge sweeping the Bruins in the Adams Division Semifinals.

Bruins vs Maple Leafs

Rival Team: Toronto Maple Leafs

The Bruins and Maple Leafs have met many times over the years thanks to both teams being members of the Original Six. In 2013, the Bruins and Maple Leafs met in one of the most famous Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series in recent years. The Bs rallied from a 4-1 third-period deficit to beat the Leafs 5-4 in Overtime. Come and see the Bruins pound the Leafs during your visit to Boston.

Boston Bruins Stadium Guide

In Game

The Boston Bruins began playing in 1924 and were the first American NHL team, making a trip to Boston a must for hockey fans everywhere. The new TD Garden may not have quite as steeped a history as the original Boston Garden, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find plenty of history on display. The Garden is home to The Sports Museum, which celebrates the history of all Boston sports teams, as well as a statue of Bobby Orr’s famous flying goal meaning you’ll find enough here to interest you if you’re looking for hockey history.

TD Garden is also home to one of the most rabid fanbases south of the Canadian border. The fans here live and die with their team and aren’t afraid to let anyone know who they support. From the time the puck drops until the time the final horn sounds, TD Garden is rocking thanks to the strong fan support of Bruins fans.

If the history and the energetic Boston crowd aren’t enough for you, the food and drink options inside TD Garden are also top notch. The arena is home to several bars including The Hub, The Craft Beer Garden, and the Samuel Adams Brew House. All three offer a unique list of beverages and will ensure that you won’t leave the arena thirsty. The food offerings inside The Garden are also great and offer several local themed stands. Draft Picks is particularly popular, so make sure to stop by and grab a bite to eat from there or any of the other excellent concession stands.

The one drawback to attending a Bruins game is that it can be a bit pricey. However the high price of admission is well worth it for die hard hockey fans out there. You’ll struggle to find a better in game experience than the one at TD Garden, so book your trip today.

    [Chorus:]
    Go! Go! Black and gold!
    Old-time hockey, bar the door
Clear the track it’s all-out war
Light the lamp, throw a hit
    Black and gold never quit
The barn is full, our team’s in town
So put ’em up boys, knock ’em out (knock ’em down)
Drop the puck, it’s time to go (time to go)Bust outta work, it’s quarter-past five
Time to round up the gang
and take the Red to the Orange line
Head for the street and the Causeway crowd
You can feel it in the air, when the team’s in town[Chorus]

Rancourt’s ready, it’s time to take to the ice
So tie down the jersey ’cause it could get ugly tonight
Top corner, five hole, off the post and in
On a quest for the cup, and we’re ready to win

    [Chorus]

    Go! Go! Black and gold!

Drop the puck, it’s time to go
