Rivalries & Top Games to Attend

Battle of Alberta

Rival Team: Edmonton Oilers

It doesn’t get any better than the Battle of Alberta. There is a strong rivalry between the two cities and it extends to the ice as well. The Flames and Oilers bitter rivalry dates back to 1980 when the Flames relocated to Calgary from Atlanta and has been going strong ever since. The rivalry was at its peak in the 1980s when the two teams were regular contenders for the Cup. Even though both teams have struggled recently, you’ll still find an incredible atmosphere at a Flames-Oilers game.

Flames vs Canucks

Rival Team: Vancouver Canucks

The Flames and Canucks have played in the same division since the 1980-81 season, which has led to the development of a fierce rivalry. Calgary and Vancouver are the two largest cities in Western Canada, and as a result, the cities themselves look for any bragging rights they can get over the other. On the ice, the Flames and Canucks have met in the Stanley Cup Playoffs seven times with the Flames winning the most recent meeting in 2015 four games to two. If you want to see an incredible game at the Saddledome, then there are few better than a Flames-Canucks game.

Calgary Flames Stadium Guide

In Game

Flames games are almost always sold out, and the team had an impressive sellout streak from 2004 to 2014, meaning you’ll experience an incredible atmosphere when attending a game at the Saddledome. Flames fans are among the most loyal in the NHL, so no matter how good or bad the team is doing you’ll always find a full house making for a great in-game experience.

At the Saddledome, you’ll also find lots of tributes to the biggest and best moments and players in Flames history. There are plenty of banners hanging from the rafters to check out, and all around the concourse, you can see Flames memorabilia from the past. There is even an exhibit remembering the 1988 Winter Olympics, so even if you don’t like the Flames, there is something to see.

The Saddledome is also home to many bars, restaurants, and concession options. No matter what you have a taste for or what your price range is you won’t leave the Saddledome hungry. Dutton’s Lounger offers a sports bar experience, the King Club more of a club type venue, and if you’re just looking to grab a hot dog then the Dog House will hit the spot.

You’ll have an excellent time attending a Flames game where you’ll be surrounded by some of the most diehard fans in the NHL and get to experience the history of the team.

This righteous smoke gonna set your soul on fire (yeah it will)Like a beautiful lady
I got all the money in the world

    And watch your dreams fold

    Yeah, I’m on fire
    Yeah, I’m on fire (right)
This righteous smoke gonna set your soul on fire (yeah it will)

  3. Ring of Fire

    Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring.
    Bound by wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire.

    [2x]
I fell into a burning ring of fire,
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
    And it burns, burns, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire.

The taste of love is sweet
    When hearts like ours meet.
I fell for you like a child,
Oh, but the fire went wild.

I fell into a burning ring of fire,
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
    And it burns, burns, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire.

I fell into a burning ring of fire,
I went down, down, down as the flames went higher
    And it burns, burns, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire.

    And it burns, burns, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire.
