Rivalries & Top Games to Attend

Hurricanes vs Capitals

Rival Team: Washington Capitals

The Capitals are the closest divisional rival to the Hurricanes geographically meaning you’ll see plenty of both teams fans in the arena. The two teams have also both been in the same division since 1998 fostering a distaste between both sets of fans. It may not be the most intense rivalry in the Metropolitan Division, but you’ll still have a great time attending a Hurricanes-Capitals game.

Hurricanes Stadium Guide

In Game

The fun of attending a Carolina Hurricanes game starts well before the puck drops. The tailgating outside of PNC Arena is the best in the NHL and a must for anyone making the trip to Raleigh. Tailgating is among the most popular pastimes in North Carolina, so it should come as little surprise that Canes fans come out bright and early to tailgate before games. Arrive in Raleigh ready to experience some of the best barbecues you’ve ever had and make sure to bring something to share.

Once inside the arena, you’ll be treated to one of the best traditions in the NHL when the hurricane siren goes off. Before every game the arena goes crazy during this fun tradition, so make sure you’re in your seat, so you don’t miss any of the festivities.

After the game begins, you’ll be treated to an incredible in-game experience equipped with fun promotions and in-game entertainment. Stormy and the Storm Squad put on memorable shows that will keep you entertained throughout the stoppages in play and on occasion you’ll even be treated to live music.

A Hurricanes game may not be quite as traditional an experience as you’ll find elsewhere around the NHL, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have a great time. The tailgating and fun in-game atmosphere make attending a Canes game a fun one of a kind experience that’s unlike anywhere else in the NHL.

  2. The Nights

Hey, once upon a younger year
    When all our shadows disappeared
The animals inside came out to play
Hey, went face to face with all our fears
Learned our lessons through the tears
Made memories we knew would never fade

One day my father—he told me,
“Son, don’t let it slip away.”
He took me in his arms, I heard him say,

    “When you get older
Your wild heart will live for younger days
Think of me if ever you’re afraid.”

He said, “One day you’ll leave this world behind
So live a life you will remember.”
My father told me when I was just a child
These are the nights that never die
    My father told me

    [Instrumental]

When thunder clouds start pouring down
Light a fire they can’t put out
Carve your name into those shining stars
He said, “Go venture far beyond these shores.
Don’t forsake this life of yours.
I’ll guide you home no matter where you are.”

One day my father—he told me,
“Son, don’t let it slip away.”
When I was just a kid I heard him say,

    “When you get older
Your wild heart will live for younger days
Think of me if ever you’re afraid.”

He said, “One day you’ll leave this world behind
So live a life you will remember.”
My father told me when I was just a child
These are the nights that never die
    My father told me

These are the nights that never die
    My father told me
    Hey, hey

  3. Rock You Like a Hurricane

    It’s early morning
    The sun comes out
    Last night was shaking
    And pretty loud
    My cat is purring
    And scratches my skin
    So what is wrong
    With another sin
    The bitch is hungry
    She needs to tell
    So give her inches
    And feed her well
    More days to come
    New places to go
    I’ve got to leave
It’s time for a showHere I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane

    My body is burning
    It starts to shout
    Desire is coming
    It breaks out loud
    Lust is in cages
    Till storm breaks loose
    Just have to make it
    With someone I choose
    The night is calling
    I have to go
    The wolf is hungry
    He runs the show
    He’s licking his lips
    He’s ready to win
    On the hunt tonight
    For love at first sting

Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
