History

The Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois opened in 2001 and cost $130 million to build. The 55,000-seat racetrack is a 1.5-mile trioval and currently hosts the NASCAR Tale of the Turtles 400.

The only major addition to the Chicagoland Speedway since it opened was the installation of lights in 2008.

In addition to hosting NASCAR races, the Chicagoland Speedway also hosted the IndyCar Peak Antifreeze Indy 300 and the Indy Light Chicagoland 100 from 2001 to 2010.
