Atmosphere
Tailgating is one of the best parts of any Coastal Carolina football game, so you’ll want to get here four hours before kickoff to enjoy the pregame atmosphere. Chanticleers fans from all over the area come out to support the team and all around campus you’ll find fans barbecuing and throwing back a few drinks with friends and family.
The tailgating scene at Coastal Carolina is much more tight-knit than what you’ll find at larger schools, creating a friendly feeling that makes everyone feel welcomed. You’ll find a lot of people are willing to share food and drinks as long as you have something to offer, and you’ll more than likely be asked to join in some tailgating games as well.
Those of you who are taking the kids to the game will want to stop by the Fan Fest before the game. The Fan Fest features inflatables and other family activities making it the perfect place for the kids to hang out before the game.
Finally, being that you’re on the South Carolina coast come prepared to enjoy plenty of barbecue and seafood. Oysters, clams, and shrimp may not be the first foods you think of when you think of tailgating, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t a delicious part of a Coastal Carolina tailgate.
You’ll have a fun time tailgating before a Coastal Carolina game, so arrive early and take advantage of the excellent tailgating scene here in Conway.
Located outside the TD Sports Complex is a giant chanticleer statue. The statue shows off school pride and presents an excellent photo op, so stop by and snap a picture with it before entering the game.
Fan Fest opens three hours before kickoff and is located in James P. Blanton Park. Here you’ll enjoy a variety of family activities including inflatables and much more, so stop by and check it out.
If you happen to catch the band or cheer team performing before the game, take the opportunity to enjoy the show. Both groups will typically perform outside the game before the game creating a fun and festive atmosphere.
Where to tailgate
Reserved ParkingReserved parking allows you to not only park and tailgate closer to the field you’ll also get to tailgate alongside some of the most die-hard Coastal Carolina tailgaters out there. The fans in the reserved parking lots tailgate for Chants games week in and week out making them pros when it comes to preparing game day food and drinks.
General ParkingIf you don’t have a reserved spot, then general parking is the next best option. The spots fill up quickly though, so you'll want to get here early to secure a spot.
Hospitality AreasThose of you who want to hold a large tailgate party, but don’t want to go through the hassle of setting it up yourself will want to take advantage of the hospitality areas. The hospitality tents are located next to the Adkins Field House entrance and include tables, chairs, food, and beverages, providing you with everything you need for a great tailgate party.
Student Tailgating AreaCoastal Carolina students looking to tailgate before the game will want to set up in the student tailgating area on Tom Trout Dr. next to the Chauncey’s Choice dining facility. If you’re a student, then stop by the student tailgating area for a full day of tailgating fun, as tailgating starts four hours before kickoff.

Coastal Carolina’s football team is on an upward trajectory and just joined the FBS and the Sun Belt Conference taking the team to new heights. After dominating at the FCS level for years, the Chanticleers will look to make their mark on the FBS making it the perfect time to head to Conway, South Carolina for a game.
The Chanticleers recent success has created a fervent fan base at Coastal Carolina that comes out in large numbers to the support the team. The fans here have been so ardent in their support that the team’s stadium will be expanded by over 10,00-seat between 2016 and 2018. Everyone in the crowd at Coastal Carolina games is into the action on the field creating a memorable experience for everyone in attendance.
Additionally, Coastal Carolina boasts a lot of pageantry and traditions surrounding the team. The Chanticleer Regiment and the Chanticleer Girls put on excellent performances throughout the game, and fans young and old enjoy the antics of the school’s mascot, Chauncey the Chanticleer.

Coastal Carolina is one of the few schools to feature turf other than the traditional green. The teal turf gives the Chanticleers an extra edge at home and helps give Brooks Stadium a unique feel you won’t find elsewhere.
Stop by the Sasser Athletic Hall of Fame in Adkins Field House to learn more about the best athletes in Coastal Carolina history. The Sasser Athletic Hall of Fame is a must-see for any Chanticleers fan.
The Beaty Memorial Victory Bell is rung after every Chanticleers victory. The bell was a donation from the Phi Kappa Phi fraternity as a memorial for Chad Michael Beaty, who died in a car accident in 1995, and has been a big part of Chants game days ever since.
Enjoy the performance of the Chanticleer Regiment throughout the game. The band puts on fantastic pregame and halftime shows and keeps spirits high with their tunes during the game.
Chauncey is the official mascot of Coastal Carolina, and a can’t miss part of any CCU basketball game. During games you can spot him entertaining fans all around the arena, so keep an eye out for him as you never know what kind of shenanigans he’ll get into next.
Chauncey isn’t the Chanticleers only mascot. The team’s live mascot Maddox made his debut at the 2011 homecoming game, and he has quickly become a favorite among fans.
Coastal Carolina’s dance team, the Chanticleer Girls, puts on a fantastic show at football games, so don’t miss them during your visit to Brooks Stadium. Stay in your seat when the group performs as their routines are a must-see.
