Rivalries & Top Games to Attend

Border War

Rival Team: Wyoming Cowboys

Colorado State and Wyoming have a long-running rivalry that dates back all the way to 1899 when the Rams shutout the Cowboys 12-0. The rivalry saw the addition of the Bronze Boot in 1968, which was started by the ROTC detachments of the two schools. Outside of the Colorado Buffaloes, Wyoming is probably Colorado State's biggest rival, so make sure to be in attendance for this game if possible.

Ram-Falcon Trophy

Rival Team: Air Force Falcons

When Air Force and Colorado State meet the victor walks away with the Ram-Falcon Trophy. The trophy dated back to 1980 and was created by former Colorado State ROTC commander Shelly Godkin. Air Force leads the all-time series between these Colorado-based schools 32-20-1, but the Rams will look to put a dent in that gap the next time these two schools meet.

Rams Tailgate Guide

Atmosphere

Tailgating on game days is a big event at Colorado State and something that Rams fans look forward to all week leading up to the game. Everyone loves the chance to get out in the beautiful Colorado fall weather and enjoy some tasty food and drinks with family and friends while showing off their CSU pride. Rams fans like to make the most out of their tailgating, so they arrive at the stadium four hours before kickoff and don’t go in until a half hour before the game.

At Colorado State, there are a variety of tailgating locations meaning no matter what you’re looking for in a tailgate you’ll find it here. If you want to get into the school spirit, then Ram Town is the place for you. Ram Town puts you right in the middle of all the Colorado State game day activities including the Ram Walk.

The Ram Walk begins with the Colorado State Band marching through Ram Town tailgate area to greet the team bus. Once they reach the bus students and fans will line the walkway as both the band and team, make their way to the stadium. This is a great tradition that makes you feel like you’re part of the action, so don’t miss out on the Ram Walk when attending a game at Colorado State.

Finally, here at CSU, they offer an excellent premium tailgate experience known as the MVP Tailgate. This all-inclusive tailgate includes plenty of food, drinks, live music, and HDTVs to keep you up to date with all the action going on around college football.

No matter what your tailgate scene is, you’ll find it at Colorado State as there is plenty to do here in preparation for watching the Rams.

Rams Stadium Guide

In Game

Canvas Stadium provides a beautiful college football venue that is a treat for any fan to take in a game. Nestled in a gorgeous landscape of flowing hill sand mountains you’d be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful place to take in a college football game on a cool, crisp Saturday in the fall.

Here at Canvas Stadium you’ll find the quintessential college football game experience with all the pageantry you’ve come to expect when attending a game at an FBS school. The pregame show here is superb meaning you’ll want to arrive inside the stadium before kickoff to take in the masterpiece.

The fans at Colorado State also provide a great atmosphere particularly for bigger rivalry games and when the team is performing well. The Rams student section is particularly dedicated as there is no sitting allowed here and the students stand throughout the game cheering and singing the many school songs. The fans elsewhere in the stadium are a bit more relaxed. However, they still show off their Rams pride by sporting green Rams sweatshirts and other team gear.

Colorado State provides an excellent game day atmosphere that is among the best in the Mountain West meaning you’ll inevitably find yourself having a good time when making the trip to Fort Collins.

Things to check out
