1. Turn Up the Green

When attending a game at Eastern Michigan make sure to stop by Turn Up the Green where you’ll be able to meet the team before the game. The spirit squad and the Pride of the Peninsula band lead the rally getting both the fans and players turned up before another hard fought game of Eagles football. Stop by the Convocation Center two hours before the game to take part in this outstanding game day tradition.

2. The 100 Yards of Gray

One of the most unique features as EMU is the field itself. The grass is no longer green it’s turned gray.  Don’t worry there isn’t some horrible lawn disease; the turf was dyed gray to create something entirely new in football. EMU is the first stadium to install gray turf giving the stadium a unique feel you won’t find anywhere else.

3. Tailgate Town

Tailgate Town takes place every game day and is located across from the Convocation Center. There are quite a few spirited fans out at Tailgate Town each weekend rocking with the DJ and getting each other pumped up for kickoff, so stop by and join in the festivities when tailgating at Eastern Michigan.

4. Pride of the Peninsula Band

The Pride of the Peninsula is the name bestowed upon the EMU marching band, which makes their presence known on game day. Their excellent pregame and halftime performances energize the crowd and entertain the fans of all ages, so keep your eyes and ears out for them throughout the game.

5. Family Fun Zone

The Family Fun Zone opens three hours before kickoff and is located just outside of the main entrance to the stadium at gate 2. Take the kids over to the Fun Zone where they’ll be able to enjoy a giant obstacle course, bounce houses, face painting, and many more fun kids activities.

6. Michigan MAC Trophy

Eastern Michigan has a fierce three-way rivalry with its fellow Michigan-based MAC schools Central and Western Michigan. All three Michigan-based MAC schools compete for the Michigan MAC Trophy, which gives yearly bragging rights whoever performs the best in the matchups between these three instate rivals. The proximity of the schools means you’ll find lots of rival fans at these matchups creating a competitive and fun game day atmosphere.

7. Alumni and Friends Tailgate

Alumni and new fans can head over to the Alumni & Friends Tailgate. The Alumni & Friends Tailgate is a great place to chat with fellow fans, grab a few drinks, and get some food before kickoff. The tailgate begins two hours before kickoff and costs $10 to enter.

8. Swoop

Swoop the bald eagle can be seen at every Eastern Michigan home football game. The mascot entertains the crowd on the sideline during the game by performing all sorts of antics, so keep your eyes peeled for this crazy bird during the game.
