Bayou Classic

Rival Team: Southern Jaguars

The Bayou Classic between Grambling State and Southern is played each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in New Orleans. The game is one of the biggest games in the SWAC and is a must-see for any Grambling State or Southern fan. The series between these two historically black universities dates back to 1932, and the Tigers hold a 22-21 lead in the all-time series. The football game isn’t the only event at the Bayou Classic as the Battle of the Bands between Grambling’s World Famed Tiger Marching Band and Southern’s Human Jukebox is arguably the bigger draw. Don’t miss the Bayou Classic as it’s one of Grambling State’s biggest events of the year.

State Fair Classic

Rival Team: Prairie View A&M Panthers

The State Fair Classic takes place during the Texas State Fair and pits the Grambling Tigers against the Prairie View A&M Panthers. The game is contested at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas and dates back to 1925. However, the game has only regularly been contested between Grambling State and Prairie View A&M since the mid-1980s. You won’t want to miss the State Fair Classic, so make sure to be in attendance when the Tigers and Panthers square off.
