2. Northwestern State-McNeese State Rivalry

The rivalry between McNeese State and Northwestern State began in 1951, and it has been going strong ever since. The Cowboys hold a 44-21-1 lead in the all-time series, so come out and cheer them on the Demons as they try to narrow the gap.

3. Spirit of Northwestern

The Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band puts on a fantastic show at Demons football games. The band’s pregame and halftime shows are incredible, and their music throughout the game creates a great atmosphere throughout the game. Enjoy the band as they’re one of the best parts of any Northwestern State game.

4. NSU Challenge

Nicholls State and Northwestern State play annually in the NSU Challenge. The rivalry began in 1973 and has been one of the key fixtures each year since then. Over the years, the Demons have amassed a 28-16 lead in the all-time series. Don’t miss it when the Colonels come to town as the NSU Challenge is always one of the best matchups of the year.

5. Vic the Demon

Fans young and old will love Vic the Demon’s antics. Vic gets into all kinds of trouble at games and is quite the hoot, so keep an eye out for him when taking in a game at Harry Turpin Stadium.

6. Cheer and Dance Teams

The cheer and dance teams at Northwestern State will dazzle you with their routines. The cheer team pumps up the crowd with their chants, and the dance team will keep you entertained with their incredible dance moves. Don’t miss the performances of either group when attending a Demons game.

7. Northwestern State-Southeastern Louisiana Rivalry

The Northwestern State-Southeastern Louisiana rivalry is one of the oldest in the Southland having been played every year since 1951. The Lions hold a slim 26-22 lead in all-time rivalry, so you’ll likely see a close matchup when attending a game between these two Southland Conference rivals.

8. Collins Family Pavilion-Alumni Tailgate

If you’re a Northwestern State alumnus, then make sure to check out the alumni tailgate at the Collins Family Pavilion. The alumni tailgates start two hours before kickoff, so arrive early to take part in the fun.

9. Chief Caddo

The winner of the annual rivalry game between Northwestern State and  Stephen F. Austin takes home Chief Caddo as well as bragging rights. The rivalry began in 1957 and Northwestern State holds a 30-20-2 lead in the all-time series. You won’t want to miss the Demons extend their lead in the all-time series, so make sure to be in attendance when the Demons and Lumberjacks square off.
