History

The Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Oregon is the home of the Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team. The arena opened in 2011 and is named after donor Phil Knight’s son Matthew. It seats 12,364 and cost $227 million making it the most expensive on-campus college basketball venue in the country.

The arena is home to Kilkenny Court, which is named after former Oregon Athletic Director Pat Kilkenny and features the unique “Deep in the Woods” design. The facility also features one of the largest center court scoreboards in college basketball measuring 32 ft by 36 ft.

The Ducks opened the Matthew Knight Arena against USC on January 13, 2011, and set their home attendance record that same year when they took on in-state rivals Oregon State.
