Rivalries & Top Games to Attend

76ers vs Celtics

Rival Team: Boston Celtics

Not only are the Celtic and 76ers in the same division, but the teams have met a record 19 times in the playoffs as well. The Celtics have gotten the better of the Sixers taking 12 of the 19 meetings, but that doesn’t stop this from being one of the most intense battles in the Eastern Conference. The rivalry was at its peak during the 1960s when the Celtics Bill Russell squared off with the Sixers Wilt Chamberlain. No matter who is playing on the court, there is always bad blood when these two get together.

76ers vs Knicks

Rival Team: New York Knicks

New York, and Philadelphia have an intense rivalry that transcends sports. These two cities despise each other, so it's no different on the hardcourt than anywhere else. Rangers-Flyers, Giants-Eagles, and Mets-Phillies are all among the hardest fought rivalries in their respective sports, so you won’t want to miss Knicks-Sixers.

76ers Stadium Guide

In Game

Philly is home to some of the loudest and most diehard sports fans out there, so it should come as little surprise that you’ll find an incredible atmosphere at Sixers games. Even with the Sixers recent struggles, you’ll still find the arena is mostly full, and those who are in attendance make plenty of noise. 76ers fans like the other Philly fan bases aren’t afraid to let opponents and even their players hear it, but that said they do tend to be not quite as rough as what you would find at a Flyers or Eagles game.

The Wells Fargo Center does an outstanding job of paying tribute to the greatest moments in both 76ers and Flyers history. Inside and outside the arena you’ll encounter plenty of statues and banners celebrating Philly’s all-time greats. There is even an excellent exhibit inside the arena showcasing the most famous moments in the Spectrum’s history.

Don’t worry if you forgot to eat before the game as there are plenty of great options available inside the Wells Fargo Center. The CURE Insurance Club is pretty much a giant food court with a bar, and you’ll find plenty of Philly favorites inside the arena including Chickie’s & Pete’s, whose crab fries are to die for.

You can’t go wrong taking in a 76ers game at the Wells Fargo Center so start planning your trip to Philadelphia today.
