Atmosphere

You won’t find the typical race day atmosphere surrounding a race at the Portland International Speedway, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of drinking and eating to be done. Unlike at other racetracks, you won’t find any fan zones or driver autograph sessions here. The pre-race atmosphere here is more relaxed than at other tracks, and most events at the Portland International Raceway are cash at the gate meaning most people just show up for a day of racing action before heading home or to the bars.

One thing that Portland has that not a lot of other speedways offer is that you’re within a couple of minute drive of some of the best bars and restaurants around. If you’re visiting the Portland International Raceway, take an Uber from one of the great bars located in downtown Portland to get the full Portland experience.

Finally, a lot of the major racing events held at the Portland International Speedway feature unique vehicles, so arrive a bit before the race to catch a glimpse of the cars before it starts.

Portland is home to a unique pre-race atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else, so take advantage of all Portland has to offer before and after the race.
