Blazers vs Sonics

Rival Team: Seattle SuperSonics

Portland and Seattle’s location along I-5 made them fierce rivals over the years. However, in 2008 the Sonics relocated to Oklahoma City ending one of the best rivalries in the NBA. Seattle is supposed to get a new team someday and when that day comes you won’t want to miss the new Sonics when they come to town.

Trail Blazers Stadium Guide

In Game

The Trail Blazers were the only pro game in town for years, and it shows in the unparalleled support Portlanders have for their team. Blazers fans are the most diehard and knowledgeable in the league, and it shows when attending a game at the Rose Center. The fans here cheer hard for their team even when things aren’t going their way, and you’ll have no problem starting a conversation with the fans around you as everyone here loves to talk ball.

In addition to the outstanding fan support, the Blazers are extremely dedicated to showcasing their team’s history. Inside the arena, you’ll find many banners and portraits of Trail Blazers greats including Bill Walton, Jack Ramsay, Clyde Drexler, and much more. You’ll even have the chance to take in the Blazers lone championship banner form 1977.

The food inside the Rose Garden is also top notch and features many local options including Killer Burger and Seven Rivers Smokehouse BBQ. You’ll be able to find lots of great Portland cuisine at the Rose Garden so grab a snack during the game.

Outside the arena, the Rose Quarter is home to a several Trail Blazers themed bars and restaurants including the Dr. Jack’s and The Spirit of 77. These establishments give you the feeling that the team permeates through the city and are a great way to get into the game day spirit before or after the game.

The People of Portland adore this team, and as a result, a trip to Portland should be on the bucket list of any NBA fan out there.

Things to check out

Championship and Retired Number Banners

These banners honor such greats as Bill Walton, Clyde Drexler, and the only Blazers team to win an NBA title. Make sure to take these in during your visit to the Rose Center.

Little Prince (Statue)

The Little Prince can be found in Portland’s Rose Quarter district right outside the Rose Garden. The sculpture is a part of the City of Portland and Multnomah County Public Art Collection, so check it out during your trip to a Trail Blazers game.

Rip City Clothing Co.

Rip City Clothing Co. is located near the north entrance of the Rose Garden and is your place to get Trail Blazers clothes and souvenirs. The shop is open from the time the door opens to the end of the game, so stop by and grab some gear.

Local Concession Options

AND YA GOTTA GIVE IT UP FOR THE PORTLAND FANS,

MOVIN’ ON A DRIBBLE DRIVE, SLAPPIN’ UP A HIGH FIVE,
AT THE BUZZER IN FOR THREE, WE WANT A VICTORY,
LIGHT THE BLAZE AND LET THE SCORE GET HIGHER,
BUT YA BETTER CALL THE COPS ‘CAUSE THE HOOP’S ON FIRE.
