The Mitchell Center or The Jungle as fans call it, in Mobile, Alabama is the home of the South Alabama Jaguars men’s and women’s basketball teams. The 10,041-seat facility opened in 1998 and cost $30 million to build. The arena is named after the Mitchell family, who donated over $35 million to the university over the years.

The Mitchell Center features 18,080 sq ft of arena space, an eight-sided center court scoreboard, a 14,000-watt sound system, four dressing rooms, and a training room.

Since opening, the Mitchell Center has been the site of several notable events including the 2001 and 2008 Sun Belt Conference men’s basketball tournaments. The facility also hosted an NBA game between the Miami Heat and the New Orleans Hornets on October 23, 2008. Most recently, the arena served as the home of the Southern Indoor Football League’s Mobile Bay Tarpons in 2011.
