Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina is the home of the South Carolina Gamecocks men’s and women’s basketball teams. The 18,000 seat arena opened in 2002 is the largest arena in South Carolina.
Colonial Life Arena cost $65 million to build and is yet to undergo any significant renovations.
Since the Gamecocks women’s basketball team opened the arena with a 72-58 victory over the rival Clemson Tigers on November 22, 2002, Colonial Life Arena has hosted a variety of notable events. The men’s basketball team recorded the biggest victory in school history at the arena when they defeated #1 ranked Kentucky 68-62 on January 26, 2010. The arena also is the home of the annual South Carolina High School Basketball Championships and has been the site of several concerts featuring acts such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Eagles, and Kanye West.
