Texas A&M Aggies Stadium Guide

In Game

Texas A&M is home to one of the most tradition loaded game days in college football, and basketball is no different. You’ll find the Yell Leaders, Corp of Cadets, Reveille, and the 12th Man all make their way to Reed Arena come basketball season.

The Aggies basketball student section, known as the Reed Rowdies, are every bit as intimidating as the 12th Man. The Reed Rowdies work with the Yell Leaders to develop basketball specific yells and over the years have done an incredible job making it tough for opponents to walk away with a W. Join in on the yells to give the Aggies your full support.

Before or after the game you’ll find plenty of great nearby restaurants and bars. The Northgate District just north of the University is a particularly good place to check out. The area is home to the popular Dixie Chicken as well as C&J BBQ.

You’ll have an excellent time attending an Aggies basketball game where the traditions and incredible fan support make it a must see event for any college basketball fan out there.

Things to check out

Retired Number Banners

Take a minute to remember Aggies legends Acie Law and Danielle Adams when attending an Aggies basketball game. These two players are the best men’s and women’s basketball players to lace them up for the Aggies and are honored by having their numbers retired by the school.

Yell Leaders

Instead of cheerleaders, Texas A&M has had yell leaders since they were an all-male institution. These upperclassmen fire up the crowd and rally behind their Aggies. They run up and down the sidelines pumping up the Reed Rowdies, so keep an eye out for them and join in their chants.

Reed Rowdies

The Reed Rowdies play a big part in making Reed Arena one of the most hostile places for opponents to play. The Rowdies get into the heads of opponents with their cheers and are the most dedicated fans in the arena on any given gameday. They even host tailgate parties, so join the Reed Rowdies if you want to stand side by side with the most boisterous fans in Reed Arena.

Reveille

The mascot of Texas A&M is a living and breathing dog! Her name is Reveille, a purebred rough collie. Having all been female, each Reveille has watched over her players like next of kin. She attends basketball games to give life to the crowd. Reveille even has her cell phone, attended to by her caretakers the Corps of Cadets Company E-2. If she is to attend a class and bark, the class is canceled. So she can even cancel class over the phone!

Aggie Pep Band

The Fighting Texas Aggie Band is the largest military marching band in the country, and the Aggie pep band isn’t half bad either. The pep band, like their marching band counterpart, put on a great show and are a big part of what makes attending an Aggies basketball game a special experience, so enjoy their performance when attending a game.

Aggie Dance Team

The Aggie Dance team performs during stoppages in play and at halftime. These talented dancers are a must see part of any Aggies game, so don’t miss them when attending a game in College Station.

Fight Songs

  1. The Aggie War Hymn

The Aggie War Hymn is the official hymn of the Texas A&M which dates way back to the World War I. The history behind this hymn is so rich that it would make any Aggie fan or student proud to be a part of this school. The hymn had an original name, which was “Goodbye to Texas University,” which refers to the Longhorns, but it was later changed because they thought it was too focused on the Longhorn. Nonetheless, the hymn does make you feel pumped up every game.

    Hullabaloo, Caneck! Caneck!
    Hullabaloo, Caneck! Caneck!

    (First Verse)
All hail to dear old Texas A&M
    Rally around Maroon and White
Good luck to dear old Texas Aggies
They are the boys who show the real old fight
That good old Aggie spirit thrills us
And makes us yell and yell and yell
So let’s fight for dear old Texas A&M
We’re going to beat you all to
    Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem
    Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem
Rough Tough! Real Stuff! Texas A&M!

    (Second Verse)
    Good-bye to texas university
So long to the orange and the white
Good luck to dear old Texas Aggies
They are the boys that show the real old fight
“The eyes of Texas are upon you . . .”
That is the song they sing so well
    So good-bye to texas university
We’re going to beat you all to
    Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem
    Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem
Rough Tough! Real Stuff! Texas A&M!

  2. The Spirit of Aggieland

The Spirit of Aggieland is the alma mater song of Texas A&M. Fun fact: this was originally written as a poem, but it was soon made into a song and was performed for the first time during the Midnight Yell tradition of 1925. Every time you hear this song play in games, you’ll feel nothing but that sense of respect on nostalgia. A true classic!

Some may boast of prowess bold
Of the school they think so grand
But there’s a spirit can ne’er be told
    It’s the Spirit of Aggieland

    (Chorus)
We are the Aggies, the Aggies are we
True to each other as Aggies can be
    We’ve got to fight boys
    We’ve got to fight!
We’ve got to fight for Maroon and White

After they’ve boosted all the rest
Then they will come and join the best
For we are the Aggies, the Aggies are we
    We’re from Texas AMC

    (Second Chorus)
    T-E-X-A-S A-G-G-I-E
    Fight! Fight! Fight-fight-fight!
    Fight, Maroon! And White-white-white!
    A-G-G-I-E
    Texas! Texas! A-M-C
    Gig ‘em! Aggies! 1-2-3!
    Farmers fight! Farmers fight!
    Fight! Fight!
    Farmers, farmers, fight!
