1. Wave the Flag
All fans entering the stadium will receive a flag, and there will be times during the game when “Waving the flag” will be initiated. The entire stadium looks mesmerizing when everyone is waving their flag, so try and snag a video of this cool tradition if you get the chance.
2. Hurricane Alley
Hurricane Alley is TU’s premier pre-game party spot. Located at the Chapman Commons on Tucker Drive, it consists of numerous activities: tailgate spots, inflatables for kids, live bands, GHC Tents, Alumni Tent, and other fun stuff. It truly is a place you can take everyone in the family. It opens 3 hours before kickoff, which gives all the fans plenty of time to get all hyped up before the game.
3. Tailgate Alley
If you want to tailgate with diehard Golden Hurricane fans, then Tailgate Alley is the place for you. The spots here are reservation only meaning that you’ll have to spend some money, but it is well worth it to tailgate with the best of the best in the heart of the Tulsa tailgate scene.
Lining the concourse of the stadium are banners of former notable TU players. The images allow fans to look back at the history of Tulsa football, and it is cool to see some of the names that have attended the university.
5. The Sound of the Golden Hurricane
The Sound provides an outstanding halftime show that pumps up the crowd and gets them ready to cheer on the Golden Hurricane to victory in the second half. The shows showcase a variety of current and classic music and are well worth the price of admission all on their own.
6. Third Down Video
On every defensive third down, a video of one of the current TU players is played encouraging fans to make some noise. The videos pump up the crowd at critical times and help provide a raucous game atmosphere.
7. Captain Cane
The mascot of the Golden Hurricane is routinely seen on game days, which creates a great experience for children. Captain Cane also works as a hype man and will bring everyone in H.A. Chapman Stadium to their feet, so be on alert for Captain Cane at the game.
8. TU Team Walk
The TU Team Walk allows fans to get into the Golden Hurricane spirit before the game. The team walk takes place approximately two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff and runs along 8th Street / Glenn Dobbs Drive. This tradition is a great way to show your support for the team and gives the players some extra motivation.
The Tulsa Golden Hurricane have a longstanding rivalry with Houston that dates all the way back to 1950. It’s always a hotly contested battle when these two bitter rivals get together. While the Cougars have gotten the better of Tulsa over the years securing victory in 22 of the 40 matchups between these two programs, the series is still very close, and Tulsa will look to even things up soon.
10. TU Alumni Association Tailgating
The alumni tailgate is situated inside TU Tavern on the Green and offers a variety of tailgating activities. The tailgate kickoffs two-and-a-half hours before kickoff, so arrive early to make the most out of your Tulsa tailgate experience.
