In Game

Attending a Yale basketball game is like stepping back in time. Payne Whitney Gymnasium is one of the oldest facilities in the country and features an old school look and feel you’ll struggle to find just about anywhere else in college hoops. The fact the arena still has wooden chair-back seats enhances the throwback feel and fully immerses you in the old school atmosphere.

The in-game entertainment at Yale follows the same old school line ‘em up and play style of the facility. You won’t find a lot of bells and whistles here at Yale. The majority of in-game entertainment, besides the action on the court, is provided by the pep band and cheer squad, which keeps things simple and traditional.

Before or after the game take some time to see all the sights and sounds that Yale and New Haven have to offer. You’ll be able to take a tour of the Yale campus before the game, and there are lots of nearby museums to see as well. If you’re looking for something to eat or drink, you’ll also be in luck as there are plenty of options New Haven including Sally’s and Frank Pepe’s.

If you’re looking for an old school basketball experience, then you can’t beat taking in a Yale Bulldogs game at Payne Whitney Gymnasium.

  1. "Bulldog”

    Bulldog!  Bulldog!
    Bow, wow, wow
    Eli Yale
    Bulldog!  Bulldog!
    Bow, wow, wow
    Our team can never fail

  2. “Bright College Years”

Bright college years with pleasure rife
The shortest, gladdest years of life
How swiftly are ye gliding by
O why does time so quickly fly
The seasons come, the seasons go
The earth is green or white with snow
But time and change shall not avail
To break the friendships formed at Yale

In after years should trouble rise
To cloud the blue of sunny skies
How bright will seem through mem’ry’s haze
    Those happy golden bygone days
O let us strive that ever we
May let these words our watch cry be
Where e’er upon life’s sea we sail:
“For God, for country, and for Yale!”
